Individual Consultations
Bariatric surgery is one part of the puzzle in achieving good health - it must be teamed with an appropriate diet and lifestyle program. Individual consultations allow you the opportunity to discuss your individual health concerns and negotiate relevant goals.
Dietitians are qualified to assist in the management of a range of health conditions. Hence if you have any existing health conditions, an individual consultation will assist in managing your long-term health. Examples of such health conditions include:
-
Diabetes
-
High cholesterol
-
High blood pressure
-
Nutritional deficiencies
-
Constipation
-
Pregnancy or breastfeeding
-
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

Food allergies & intolerances
-
Diverticulitis

-
Crohns disease
At an individual consultation your medical and nutritional needs, eating habits, food preferences and lifestyle can all be assessed before recommendations are made. Your social, occupational and psychological needs can also be taken into consideration.

Private Health Insurance
If you have private health insurance with ‘extras’ cover with your private health fund you may be eligible for a rebate. Rebate amounts vary widely and you will need to check with your fund if you are entitled. Following payment a receipt will be issued to you that will allow you to claim a rebate from your fund if eligible.
Medicare Enhanced Primary Care Plan
People with chronic conditions and complex care needs may be eligible for an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan. If your GP has referred you for dietary services and completed an EPC referral form, Medicare can then provide a rebate for up to five of your consultations if your Doctor has referred you and completed an EPC referral form. Only those with a chronic condition are eligible for the plan – discuss eligibility with your GP. Please bring the EPC referral to your appointment.
Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA)
Those with a DVA Gold Card can receive dietetic services at no additional cost. However, you must be referred to the dietitian by your GP. Please bring any relevant paperwork to your appointment.
